Avoiding A Social Media Wasteland For Your Business

We’ve all been there–looking up a brand or business on a social media network to learn more about them and we land on a Twitter account or Facebook feed that hasn’t been touched in months or even years. This is the Social Media Wasteland.
It’s very easy to get in a rut with the social media channels for your business. There can be a lot of pressure to come up with new things to keep engagement high. Hopefully these tips below will help inspire some posts or at least help you avoid a Social Media Wasteland of your own.
Know your goals ahead of time – With your business’ social media presence, it’s important to have clear goals going in. These don’t have to be specific business-related goals, but could be smaller goals that will help you achieve your higher goals indirectly. Having a small checklist when posting will help narrow down your scope so it won’t seem so overwhelming.
Mix in some fun – It’s important to be professional on your social networks, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have some fun once in a while. In fact, it’s oftentimes the creative, seemingly off-topic posts that perform the best and keep your audience coming back. Just don’t go too far over the edge and forget reflecting the purpose of your business.
Keep it simple – Every post to one of your social networks doesn’t need to be a long form article. If it was, your channel would probably be a pretty boring one. It’s best to mix in your longer posts with simple, short posts about a topic or maybe just an image. Having a balance will keep your timelines interesting.
Just keep posting – The number one rule to avoid a social media rut is to just keep posting. If you’re having trouble coming up with original content, then simply post relevant content from other reliable sources and add a sentence or two with your thoughts or a call for engagement.
