10 Guitars: Bringing An Outdoor Art Exhibit To Winter Garden, FL

Posted on September 29th, 2015 by Shaun Thompson

This year marks the 10th anniversary of one of Winter Garden’s most popular events, the Winter Garden MusicFest. The three-day festival, which is October 9th, 10th, & 11th, brings a variety of diverse musical groups to the historic downtown area as well as food, shopping, and other special events.

To celebrate this important milestone, Joe Alarie came up with an idea to promote the MusicFest while also bringing more art and culture to the Winter Garden community. He thought it would be great if there was an art exhibition that featured ten unique guitar sculptures placed around the downtown area to set the stage for MusicFest, each one designed and created by a local Central Florida artist. With a prototype on display, the idea was pitched to the powers that be and it was received with excitement and open arms.

With the help of the Winter Garden Art Association, the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, and the City of Winter Garden, the plan came to life and before he knew it, Joe was building the frames and models for the ten guitars and the talented artists were being selected for the exhibition.

The guitars quickly came to life with brand new personalities from the artists and were put on display around downtown Winter Garden the first couple weeks of September. Learn more about each guitar and its artist on the 10 Guitars website, http://10guitars.net.

The 10 Guitars Online

To showcase all ten guitars and the project, we at Alarie Design built a one-page site with photos of each guitar and information about the artists. It was important for the site to be extremely mobile friendly since most of its visitors would be coming from out and about Winter Garden after seeing the guitars in person.

A huge component of the exhibition is the online auction of each guitar taking place leading up to MusicFest so we needed a solid platform to access the listings. Each guitar’s auction will be hosted on eBay with a listing link on the 10 Guitars homepage.
